Manchester United want to hand Bruno Fernandes a lucrative new contract with a weekly salary of £200,000, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to double Bruno Fernandes's wages owing to his influence at the club.

The Red Devils playmaker netted his 25th goal in 48 Premier League appearances against Aston Villa on Sunday - a penalty which also took him up to 17 for the current top-flight campaign.

Fernandes's existing deal at Old Trafford is not due to expire until 2025, but United supposedly want to reward his performances with a bumper new contract.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils want to hold talks with Fernandes between the end of the season and this summer's Euros, with a £200,000-per-week deal thought to be on the table.

However, the report adds that the attacker - who has been linked with Juventus - wants to have more knowledge of the club's plans for the next few years, and he will push for the Red Devils to sign a new centre-back to play alongside Harry Maguire.

Fernandes's spot kick at Villa Park took him up to 44 goal contributions (27 goals, 17 assists) in 54 matches across all competitions this season.
