Barcelona are reportedly hopeful that Ronald Araujo will opt to remain at Camp Nou rather than entertain a transfer to the Premier League.

Barcelona are reportedly confident of retaining the services of defender Ronald Araujo.

The 22-year-old has been a regular in the team this season, making a total of 17 starts and six substitute appearances in all competitions.

However, with less than 18 months remaining on his contract, the Uruguayan has naturally been linked with a whole host of other clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.

According to reports in Spain, the Catalan giants are ready to fight for the centre-back by holding discussions with his representatives.

Although Barcelona continue to have financial problems, it is claimed that they want to hand the player a new long-term contract.

Araujo is said to be open to extending his stay at Camp Nou having recently just bought a new house in the area.
