Barcelona 'eyeing move for Manchester United's Nemanja Matic'

Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic.

The 33-year-old has been a regular for the Red Devils this season, making eight appearances in all competitions, but his contract at Old Trafford is due to expire in June 2023.

According to the Daily Star, Barcelona view the Serbia international as the ideal player to boost their midfield, with the Catalan giants looking at low-cost signings for 2022 due to their financial issues.

The report claims that Matic is likely to be available for a cut-price fee next summer, and the package appeals to Barcelona at this moment in time.

The experienced midfielder has made 165 appearances for the 20-time English champions since making the move from Chelsea in July 2017.

Man United could also lose Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer, and the club are expected to be in the market for at least one new central midfielder ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
