Ashley Young has signed a five-year deal with Manchester United, his new club have confirmed.
The former Aston Villa player was expected to seal the deal, worth in the region of £17m, before the weekend following a medical yesterday.
The striker had flagged his willingness to move on from Villa earlier in the month, stating that he aspires to play football “at the highest levelsâ€, including in the Champions League.
Young made 30 goals for the Midlands club since joining in January 2007.
The 25-year-old’s acquisition marks Sir Alex Ferguson’s second signing of the season, following Blackburn defender Phil Jones.
