Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly holds an hour-long inquest into his side's 4-0 defeat at Everton ahead of Wednesday's derby with Man City.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly held an hour-long training ground inquest into Sunday's heavy defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

The Red Devils slumped to their biggest defeat since October 2016 to continue their dramatic dip in form and leave themselves three points off the Champions League places with just four games of their season remaining.

The first of those matches comes against local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday, and the Daily Mail claims that Solskjaer used Monday to analyse what went wrong with his players ahead of the derby.

United's players and staff reportedly held clear-the-air talks before the hour-long inquest, and Solskjaer then had a recruitment meeting with Mike Phelan to discuss how they could arrest their poor form.

The Norwegian publicly apologised to supporters following Sunday's 4-0 defeat on Merseyside and has since demanded a response from his side when they welcome the champions in midweek.

United have lost six of their last eight games across all competitions ahead of a crucial double-header which also sees them host top-four rivals Chelsea after Wednesday's derby.
