Man Utd chiefs 'have reservations over Conte appointment'

The powers-that-be at Manchester United are reportedly not totally convinced that Antonio Conte is the right man to take the club forward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future remains the topic of much debate amid his side's barren run in the Premier League, with Conte thought to be the favourite to take over should the Norwegian be given the boot.

Conte has claimed silverware at Juventus, Inter Milan and Chelsea in a stellar managerial career, but Cristiano Ronaldo supposedly did not want the Italian to return to Juve following Massimiliano Allegri's departure in 2019.

Now, the Manchester Evening News claims that some members of the United hierarchy are not completely convinced by Conte and are against appointing him as Solskjaer's successor.

The report adds that there has been no 'concrete contact' between Conte and Man United, and Solskjaer is set to remain in the Old Trafford dugout for the time being.

Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag and Zinedine Zidane are also rumoured to be on a four-man shortlist of candidates for United if Solskjaer is ultimately relieved of his duties.
