Ruben Amorim could hand new signing Bryan Mbeumo his non-competitive debut for Manchester United in Saturday's Premier League Summer Series friendly fixture with West Ham United at the at the MetLife Stadium.
Mbeumo completed his £71m transfer to Old Trafford on Monday and has been included in Amorim’s 32-man travelling squad to the United States alongside fellow new recruits Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, who both made their first appearances for the club in last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United.
Man United’s new No.19 could be joined in attack by Cunha, while either Rasmus Hojlund or Chido Obi could be tasked with leading the line after both players played 45 minutes each as a central striker against Leeds.
While Marcus Rashford has completed a loan move to Barcelona, Joshua Zirkzee could be a centre-forward option at Amorim’s disposal as he and goalkeeper Andre Onana have both been included in Man United’s squad after missing the draw with Leeds due to injury.
Lisandro Martinez has also travelled to the States, but he is not expected to feature as he continues his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury, while Harry Maguire - who played against Leeds - will travel to link up with the squad on Wednesday after dealing with a personal matter, meaning that he could feature in some capacity this weekend.
Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Luke Shaw and Ayden Heaven are also in contention to feature in the back three, while Tom Heaton impressed between the sticks against Leeds and will look to fend off competition from Onana and Altay Bayindir for a starting spot.
Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot could be handed starts as wing-backs, with the latter’s involvement potentially allowing Amad Diallo to operate further forward.
Captain Bruno Fernandes will likely begin as captain in centre-midfield and he could play alongside either Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount or Kobbie Mainoo, while youngsters Toby Collyer, Jack Fletcher and Sekou Kone are also available for selection.
Manchester United possible starting lineup: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Obi
