Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up in Saturday's pre-season clash with Queens Park Rangers.

Manchester United will continue their preparations for the 2021-22 campaign with a pre-season friendly against Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils are still without the services of a number of important players due to the Olympics, Euro 2020 and Copa America, but the squad is getting stronger with each passing match.

Last weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side recorded a 2-1 win over Derby County, and the club will now face QPR, Brentford, Preston North End and Everton ahead of their Premier League opener against Leeds United.

Daniel James and Scott McTominay have joined up with the squad following their involvement in Euro 2020, but Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial are both training at the club's Carrington base following injuries, and the pair will not be involved in the clash with QPR.

New signing Tom Heaton was between the sticks against Derby, and there is every chance that the veteran goalkeeper will get the nod once again from the first whistle.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams were the starting full-backs against the Rams, but Alex Telles could now come in at left-back, with Axel Tuanzebe and Teden Mengi keeping their spots in the middle.

In midfield, James Garner could keep his spot and might be joined by Nemanja Matic, while there is also a chance that Shola Shoretire could feature in the middle of the park.

Solskjaer is thought to be keen to play a 4-3-3 formation next season, and it would not be a surprise to see the Norwegian work on the proposed new set-up over the next couple of weeks.

Mason Greenwood and Juan Mata both started against Derby and should keep their spots, while there could be a position for Jesse Lingard, who has been told that he is in the club's plans "at the moment".

Elsewhere, Andreas Pereira and Facundo Pellistri are both back at the club following loan spells, and it will be interesting to see whether either player is in the manager's plans moving forward.

Following the clash with Derby, Solskjaer hinted that Pellistri would move on loan, but the Uruguayan could yet work his way into the Norwegian's plans over the next couple of weeks.

Anthony Elanga and Hannibal Mejbri should also be given another chance to impress this weekend, and the youngsters will be desperate to stay in contention as the club's squad strengthens in the coming days with the return of internationals.

Amad Diallo and Eric Bailly are currently representing the Ivory Coast at the Olympics, while the likes of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Paul Pogba are not due back until August following their involvement in Euro 2020.

Jadon Sancho's arrival has still not been officially confirmed, but the attacker would also have been unavailable for this match due to his involvement for England over the summer, while a decision on possible shoulder surgery for Marcus Rashford has not yet been made.

Fred, meanwhile, impressed for Brazil during the Copa America and is also being given time off, meaning that the midfielder will not be available for selection until August.

Possible Manchester United XI: Heaton; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Mengi, Telles; Matic, Garner, Shoretire; Mata, Greenwood, Lingard
