Jack Wilshere: 'FA Cup win over Manchester United has given us belief'

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere insists that his side's win over Manchester United in the FA Cup has given them belief that they can beat the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes that his side's victory over Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup has given the team confidence that they can beat them in the Premier League.

The Gunners had failed to beat United at Old Trafford since 2006 until former Red Devils forward Danny Welbeck fired Arsene Wenger's men to a 2-1 win which sent them into the last four of the cup competition.

Wilshere has insisted that the victory has given him and his teammates the belief they can take all three points from their top-flight match against Louis van Gaal's men later today.

"Mentally it helps," Wilshere told the club's official website. "The past few years we have been there we have struggled and we can't hide from that.

"In the last four or five years we haven't won there. Winning there in the FA Cup was a big confidence boost for us.

"When we go there on Sunday we know what it will take, we know we can beat them and maybe they might be thinking about that game as well. Hopefully we can repeat that performance."

Arsenal currently sit two points above United in third place in the Premier League.
