Wayne Rooney has amassed 125,000 followers on Twitter in a little over a day.
The Man Utd star joined the social network yesterday using the name @WazzaRoon08 and quickly built up followers after endorsement from Rio Ferdinand.
Rooney initially appeared confused by Twitter, however, sending the global message: "Hi rio do u want picking up in the morning pal"
He then followed it up with a message asking his followers to "bare with" him as he got used to the system. Subsequent messages included a plea for people to follow his wife Coleen and congratulations for Fernando Torres, who finally scored his first goal for Chelsea yesterday.
