Manchester United will open contract talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Monday, according to a report.

Manchester United will reportedly open contract talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Monday.

Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as United boss in the latter stages of December. The Norwegian was expected to take the job on an interim basis while United looked for a long-term Mourinho replacement.

However, Solskjaer has overseen a huge turnaround at Old Trafford, leading the team back into the top four in the Premier League and also into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils enjoyed one of the finest ever results in Europe on Tuesday night, meanwhile, as they overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League at Paris Saint-Germain's expense.

According to the Daily Record, United will open contract negotiations with Solskjaer on Monday and the club's former striker could sign a four-year contract to become the new head coach at Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions will look to continue their stunning form when they visit fellow top-four hopefuls Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
