Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson reveals that he allowed Paul Scholes took today off.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Paul Scholes took no part in Manchester United's training earlier today because he had been given the day off.

The United manager has insisted that the 37-year-old is not currently suffering from an injury, despite reports to the contrary.

"We just gave him a day off. We gave him a rest," Ferguson told reporters.

"He was indoors. Paul and Ryan Giggs don't train every day. We give them certain days off."

Scholes is not expected to feature against Athletic Bilbao tomorrow evening.
