Steve Round says that Ryan Giggs's new coaching role will be "vital" for Manchester United next season.

Manchester United assistant manager Steve Round has insisted that Ryan Giggs's new coaching role will be "vital" for the club.

The 39-year-old will take on the coaching role alongside his playing duties next season following the arrival of David Moyes, who replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm after the Scotsman decided to retire for good.

"To have Ryan as a player and a coach is terrific," Sky Sports News quotes Round as saying. "Somebody asked me the other day who is the best footballer I've ever worked with. My immediate answer was Ryan Giggs, and I've only worked with him for a few weeks.

"He's arguably the best Premier League player there has ever been and working so closely with him makes you realise even more what a top footballer he is.

"Having him on the staff is going to be vital when it comes to being able to confide in him and ask for his opinion on things."

Former Everton captain Phil Neville has also joined the coaching setup.
