Real Madrid are reportedly planning to make Cristiano Ronaldo the highest-paid player in world football.

Real Madrid will reportedly offer Cristiano Ronaldo the chance to become the world's highest-paid player in an effort to keep him at the club.

The Portuguese forward has been consistently linked with a move back to Manchester United this summer, four years after the Red Devils sold him for a world-record £80m.

Anzhi Makhachkala's Samuel Eto'o is the best-paid footballer on the planet, but Los Blancos will offer Ronaldo a package in excess of the £330,000 that the Cameroon striker earns weekly at the Russian club, according to The Telegraph.

Meanwhile Madrid president Florentino Perez believes that Ronaldo will retire at Santiago Bernabeu.
