Harry Redknapp: 'Gareth Bale would help Manchester United become champions'

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says that Gareth Bale would return Manchester United to the top of the Premier League.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that Manchester United would become champions again if they signed Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

The Welshman has been linked with a return to England following a disappointing second season in the Spanish capital, and Redknapp believes that he is exactly what the Red Devils need.

"If you said to me, as a Premier League manager you could have the pick of one player in the world, it would be Gareth above any other player - if he wanted to come back," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

"A year ago, for me, he was the third best player in the world. He maybe has fallen behind Neymar and Luis Suarez now but he could come back here, as a fantastic footballer, and if he came back to England he could change the fortunes of a football club - he has that much ability."

Although Bale has been repeatedly linked with United, the Wales international has insisted that he intends to remain at Real.
