Liverpool target Christian Pulisic: 'I grew up supporting Manchester United'

Pulisic: 'I grew up supporting Man Utd'

Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic has revealed that he supported Manchester United growing up following rumours that Liverpool recently tried to sign him.

The Merseyside outfit reportedly had a £10m bid rejected by Dortmund for the 17-year-old, who scored two goals in nine appearances for the German club after making his senior debut in February.

It is unclear whether Liverpool retain an interest in Pulisic after failing in their attempts to sign him during the summer, but the player himself has admitted that he is an admirer of the club's arch rivals United, and in particular Wayne Rooney.

"I was a big Manchester United fan when I was younger," Pulisic told ESPN. "I loved to watch Rooney. I wouldn't say I'm a similar player, though.

"I think his passion for the game is something you don't see much in players. That's what I loved about him."

The American teenager joined Dortmund's academy last year.
