Manuel Pellegrini: 'Manchester derby important for both sets of fans'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admits that the Manchester derby is an important fixture for the city and both clubs' fans.

Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that the Manchester derby is an important match for both sets of fans ahead of Manchester City's trip to Old Trafford.

Manchester United secured their first win in four matches when the two sides last met, but City sit two places above their local rivals in the table ahead of kickoff.

Ahead of this match, the City manager said: "I think for the city it is always a special game. It's very important for both fans to try to win and to try to demonstrate who is the best in the city."

City captain Vincent Kompany makes his first start in six weeks for the club this afternoon.
