Pallister: 'Man Utd can cope without Vidic'

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister believes that the club can cope with the loss of captain Nemanja Vidic.

The Serbian was ruled out for the rest of the season on Friday after he suffered a knee injury during Wednesday's Champions League defeat to FC Basel.

"It's very bad news but I don't see Sir Alex rushing out with the chequebook," Pallister told BBC Sport.

"I think they have got enough cover in there with Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling.

"I don't see Sir Alex going into the market for a centre-half. Hopefully Nemanja will make a full recovery and be back for next season. I think he will look to those he has already got."

The Red Devils entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
