Nick Powell: 'Time to play some games'

Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell says that he joined Hull City on loan to get more regular matches.

Nick Powell has revealed that the promise of regular match action was the motivating factor behind his loan switch from Manchester United to Hull City last night.

The midfielder's career has been blighted by injuries over the last 18 months, having made just three appearances since Louis van Gaal took charge of the Red Devils in 2014.

As a result, he will now spend the remainder of the campaign with the Championship leaders.

"Mainly, it was personal reasons. I wanted to get more game-time," the 21-year-old told Hull's official website.

"I haven't played in a long time. I've been injured quite a lot, hopefully that's past me and I'm striving to get more games and play football again. I've been training last couple of months so it's time to get some games now."

Powell joined United from Crewe Alexandra for £4.5m in 2012.
