Neville: 'English players critical'

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville believes that it is vital for the club to bring through young British talent.

The Sky Sports pundit, who also acts as an England coach, believes that Phil Jones, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling need to move up another gear for the new season.

"It is critical to have young English players at the club who are coming through and have good potential," Neville told the club's official website. "Those players need to develop and become better. They are now champions after winning the title. They should gain confidence from that and want to go again."

The Red Devils will start the new campaign in August under the leadership of David Moyes, who replaced the recently-retired Sir Alex Ferguson.
