David Moyes is hoping that Manchester United's fans will give their full support to the team this season.

New Manchester United manager David Moyes has called upon the club's fans to get behind his team this season.

An estimated 50,000 were at Wembley on Sunday when United won their first trophy of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the Community Shield.

"It was incredible. At the end, most people normally leave and the ground becomes half empty, but three quarters of the ground was full of Manchester United supporters," he told MUTV.

"I think the supporters had the bit between their teeth. They know we have got a fight on this season, they know we have got a challenge and they are right up for it.

"We are going to need them. We are going to need their vocal backing at Old Trafford, from the first home game, and hopefully we're going to be ready to show them what we can do."

The Red Devils open up their Premier League campaign away to Swansea City on Saturday evening.
