Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho: 'No plans to rest Romelu Lukaku'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that he has no plans to rest striker Romelu Lukaku due to Marcus Rashford being required in other positions.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that he is unable to rest forward Romelu Lukaku

Since his summer switch to Old Trafford, Lukaku has been an ever-present in both the Premier League and Champions League, despite Mourinho having the option to rest the Belgian and play Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial in his place.

However, Mourinho has suggested that the pair are unable to fill in for Lukaku due to being required in other positions, and that rotation will not be considered until the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from a long-term knee injury.

The 54-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Without Zlatan, we cannot rotate the striker, especially because Marcus Rashford is playing also in other positions.

"So until the moment we have Zlatan, we cannot think about giving rest to our number nine the same way we give in other positions."

Lukaku has netted 10 goals in all competitions since leaving Merseyside for the North-West of England.
