Jose Mourinho: 'Romelu Lukaku joined from Everton at perfect time'

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is happy with the way Romelu Lukaku has quickly settled into life at Old Trafford, helped by friends he already had at the club.

Jose Mourinho has hailed the early impact made by Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United ahead of the striker's reunion with his former Everton teammates this weekend.

The 24-year-old has already hit six goals in six appearances for his new side since joining in a £75m transfer from the Toffees during the summer.

Lukaku arrived at United following prolific spells with Anderlecht, West Bromwich Albion and Everton, which Mourinho believes was always going to stand him in good stead for the next step in his career at Old Trafford.

"Especially for a striker it's important how many goals you score but I don't put any pressure on a player over that. He is playing well, there is a good relationship between the way our striker and the way the team plays," he told reporters.

"I think he comes [to United] in the right moment, [he is] a good age, a good number of years of experience in different clubs in the Premier League and clearly a player adapted to the Premier League with good friends already in this dressing room.

"[He has made] an easy interaction into our group and the way the team tries to play has a good relationship with his qualities as a player, he came at the right moment in his career."

Belgium international Lukaku scored 87 goals in 166 games for Everton between 2013 and 2017.
