Chelsea's Jose Mourinho: "I have to be an example for everybody"

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho feels that he has to be the manager to set an example following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he feels he has to be the manager to follow in the Premier League after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Scot called time on his illustrious career at Manchester United at the end of last season after winning the top-flight title for the 13th time in 26 years at Old Trafford.

Mourinho told reporters: "I'm just going to be the Godfather. The big change in the Premier League in relation to us managers is that our boss isn't there any more. He was the guy everyone respected, admired and looked up to as the dad of every manager in the Premier League. But he's gone and for me that's the change.

"Now I'm one of the guys with more time in football, the only one who's won the Champions League, all the English competitions.

"So I've more responsibility on my shoulders in terms of being one of the more experienced guys. I have to be an example for everybody in many aspects. Not just in the expectation of winning because that is always there."

Mourinho returned to Chelsea following a six-year absence after he left the club in 2007.
