Michel: 'United could buckle under pressure'

Olympiacos manager Michel has revealed that they will be looking to expose any signs of anxiety in Manchester United when they meet in their Champions League last-16 first leg at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Tuesday.

The Red Devils are heavy favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals, but Michel is optimistic about the Greeks potentially causing an upset at home.

With United struggling to secure a top-four Premier League finish, winning this competition is their one chance for silverware this term as well as being the only way that they can secure a seat at European football's top table for next season, and Michel feels that severely increases the pressure on David Moyes's side.

"We know there's lots at stake for Manchester United in this match," the Spaniard told reporters.

"We know Manchester United are not allowed to make any mistakes due to their position in the Premier League and we have to say probably this kind of situation may weigh too much on their players' shoulders.

"It could be an incentive to them or it could be a burden on their shoulders. People say it'll be a very demanding tie and that's true. They are favourites, but nothing says we can't beat Manchester United."

Michel, 50, won La Liga six times as a Real Madrid player, but never lifted the Champions League trophy.
