Juan Mata to wear number eight for Manchester United

Juan Mata is handed the number eight shirt for Manchester United.

Spanish midfielder Juan Mata will wear the number eight shirt for Manchester United this season.

It had been suggested that the Spanish international would wear the number seven for his new club after officially joining from Chelsea at the weekend.

However, the former Valencia attacker has taken on the number eight for the Premier League champions, which had previously belonged to Anderson, who recently joined Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old is expected to make his debut in the Premier League clash against Cardiff City at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

Dimitar Berbatov holds up his shirt at his Manchester United unveiling.
