Benjamin Sesko signing: Two-time Champions League winner delivers verdict on Man United's new centre-forward star

Man United legend delivers Sesko verdict ahead of Arsenal showdown

Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has said that Benjamin Sesko "has all the attributes to score plenty of goals" for the Red Devils following his arrival from RB Leipzig.

The 20-time English champions went head-to-head with Newcastle United for the signing of the Slovenia international, and his switch to Old Trafford was confirmed last weekend.

Sesko is in line to make his debut for Man United in Sunday's Premier League blockbuster against Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has arrived at Old Trafford off the back of scoring 39 times and registering eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig, and Brown, who spoke exclusively to Sports Mole, is confident that the striker will be a huge success at Old Trafford.

"It’s a great signing for Manchester United. The type of signing that the club have been looking to achieve for a number of years," said Brown, who played for the Red Devils between 1996 and 2011, winning five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and two Champions League trophies.

"It’s also the right time for Sesko, with all respect he was playing for Leipzig in Germany, but now has his move to a big club in Manchester United where he wants to show on big stage what he can do.

"It's also great for the club to have two strikers in Sesko and [Rasmus] Hojlund who can compete together and play as a pair or with one starting and pushing the other.

"Manchester United needs competition and signing Sesko can give a further lift to the club in what has been an A grade off season bringing in [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo as well.

"The signing of Sesko is great for the creative players we have as well, especially Amad [Diallo] and Bruno [Fernandes] who will create plenty of chances for Sesko to score.

"The quality on wide areas is very good now so this season can be a positive one for Manchester United. I think Sesko has all the attributes to score plenty of goals for Manchester United. He is mobile, good in the air and with his feet so it all bodes really well for the club."

Will Sesko start for Man United against Arsenal?

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim has a major decision on his hands when it comes to Sesko for this weekend's Premier League opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

During pre-season, Fernandes, Cunha and Mbeumo have been used as a front three, and it would not be a surprise to see the trio feature from the first whistle against Arsenal, with Sesko potentially being used off the bench.

However, Amorim will certainly be tempted to throw Sesko straight into the XI considering that the Slovenian will have had a full week of training under his belt before the campaign opener.

The striker was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal earlier in the transfer window, but the Gunners ultimately settled on Viktor Gyokeres as their number one centre-forward target, signing the Swede from Sporting Lisbon.
