Man United 'considering Lopetegui as Solskjaer replacement'

Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has reportedly emerged as a candidate to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach of Manchester United.

Solskjaer has taken charge of his last game as Red Devils manager, with the 20-time English champions preparing to relieve him of his duties following Saturday's 4-1 loss at Watford.

The club are believed to be working to convince Zinedine Zidane to become the next permanent manager, with Darren Fletcher set to lead the team in the meantime.

However, according to The Athletic, the Red Devils have also identified Lopetegui as a candidate for the first-team role at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have made contact with the 55-year-old over the summer in a bid to appoint him as Jose Mourinho's replacement, but the Spaniard stayed in Seville.

Lopetegui, who has also been in charge of Spain and Real Madrid, has managed Sevilla since 2019, leading the club to the 2019-20 Europa League title.
