Manchester United are working to convince Zinedine Zidane to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach of the club, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly working to convince Zinedine Zidane to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as head coach of the 20-time English champions.

Solskjaer is seemingly on the verge of being sacked by the Red Devils following Saturday afternoon's 4-1 defeat to Watford in the Premier League.

The Norwegian was booed by the section of the away supporters at Vicarage Road, and Man United are allegedly preparing to relieve him of his duties.

Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers and Spain's Luis Enrique are among those to be linked with the managerial position at Old Trafford.

However, according to The Times, the club are currently accelerating their attempts to persuade former Real Madrid manager Zidane to take the job in the middle of the campaign.

Zidane is believed to be waiting to replace Didier Deschamps as France boss, but the report claims that the English giants are preparing to offer the legendary midfielder a lucrative contract.

Man United are next in action away to Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday before travelling to Premier League leaders Chelsea in the league next weekend.
