Federico Macheda is keen to prove his worth at Manchester United this season.

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has vowed to prove himself at Old Trafford this season.

The 20-year-old was linked with loan switches to Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers before the transfer window closed on Wednesday night.

However, a move never materialized and the Italy Under-21 international has said that he is keen to make a mark at United over the coming months.

He said on Twitter: "Tomorrow back to training. I’m gonna train so hard this season and show people that I’m here as well. I’m ready to show what I can do!"

Macheda spent six months on loan at Sampdoria earlier this year.
