Lingard: 'United need to win every game'

Midfielder Jesse Lingard acknowledges that Manchester United "probably" need to win the rest of their games in the Premier League to challenge leaders Manchester City.

Midfielder Jesse Lingard has called on Manchester United to focus on winning their next game as they look to find a way to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

United currently sit 11 points adrift of City in the standings, with their neighbours having registered a record-breaking 16 victories in a row.

Lingard has acknowledged that United "probably" need to prevail in each of their remaining games, but the England international insists that he and his teammates are taking confidence from their points return this season.

The 25-year-old is quoted by The Telegraph as saying: "Probably, but we will take each game as it comes. We'll concentrate on the next one ahead and see where we are at the end of the season.

"With the squad we have got, we have to always believe in each game. I think in any other season we would be top with the points we have. So long as we keep winning games, that's the most important thing, and then we will see where we are."

Lingard has arguably been United's star performer in recent games, with four goals and one assist coming from his last five outings.
