Phil Jones looking for strong pre-season

Manchester United defender Phil Jones is eyeing an injury-free campaign next season and is hopeful that a strong pre-season will help him on his way.

Jones played just 24 games in all competitions for United in 2012-13 as injuries blighted his season.

"That's important for me for the next season coming up," he told the club's official website. "I think I've only had one pre-season and that was in my first season here so it's important I get a full pre-season under my belt.

"I need to get fitter and stronger and mentally prepare myself for what will be another tough season again."

Jones signed for United in June 2011 for £16.5m from Blackburn Rovers.
