Phil Jones says that he is delighted with his first season at Manchester United, despite bouts of injury throughout the campaign.

Phil Jones believes that his first season at Manchester United could not have gone better.

The 20-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Blackburn Rovers last summer and has since made an impact in the squad within the defence and midfield positions.

"It has gone really well," said Jones. "If anyone had told me at the start of the season I would have made 40 appearances for Manchester United I would have snapped their hands off. It is incredible.

"I didn't expect it this season but it all started off really well. Perhaps I picked up a few injuries at the wrong time because at the back end of the season I couldn't really get my match fitness back. But now I feel good, fit and fresh and hopefully I can finish the season strongly."

Jones may fail to be part of a Premier League-winning side this season as arch rivals Manchester City are poised to snatch the crown at the weekend.
