England boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that he chose Manchester United defender Phil Jones over Manchester City's Micah Richards for his Euro 2012 squad.
Hodgson also revealed that he was considering taking Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker before he was ruled out of the tournament through injury.
"I was considering Kyle Walker before he dropped out. In Phil Jones I have a player who is capable of playing right-back and centre-back. It was going to be one of Phil Jones or Micah Richards and I chose Jones," he told reporters.
Jones is among four United players named in the squad.
