Ander Herrera: 'Wayne Rooney is England's greatest'

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has claimed that Wayne Rooney is the "best English player in history".

Rooney and Herrera were both on the scoresheet as Manchester United eased to a 3-0 victory over Everton this afternoon.

The England captain recently became his country's all-time leading scorer, and Herrera believes that he is the greatest player to have represented the Three Lions.

"He [Rooney] did great work for us. He is very important for England and also for us," Herrera told MUTV.

"He is our leader, the best English player in history, so we have to enjoy him and it is going to help us a lot.

"When you have your captain in good form, scoring goals and if he is happy then it is very important for us".

Rooney has scored six goals for United this season.
