Ryan Giggs confident of Manchester United resurgence

Ryan Giggs labels Man United as a "proper club" and fully expects the Red Devils to bounce back from a disappointing season next term.

Ryan Giggs has labelled Manchester United as a "proper club" and fully expects the Red Devils to bounce back from a disappointing season next term.

United endured a dismal defence of their Premier League title and will finish the campaign outside the coveted top four places for the first time in 23 years.

"It's been a disappointing season but just like being players if you have setbacks, if you are a proper player you come back," he told reporters at the club's end-of-season awards.

"If you are a proper team and a proper club, which we are, you always bounce back. In my first season we lost out to Leeds and I was sitting in the changing rooms there watching grown men cry.

"I saw how much it meant to people but we came back the next year and won the league for the first time in 25 years. That's what great clubs do. They have setbacks but they come back stronger."

Giggs, who took over from the sacked David Moyes on an interim basis last month, is not expected to be handed a permanent role for next season amid increasing speculation that the club have sealed a deal for Louis van Gaal.
