Rio Ferdinand: 'Paul Pogba can handle world-record price tag'

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Paul Pogba will have no trouble dealing with the pressure of being the world's most expensive footballer.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Paul Pogba will have no problems dealing with the pressure of being the world's most expensive player.

The 23-year-old completed his long-awaited return to Old Trafford in the early hours of Tuesday morning, joining United in a deal thought to be worth around £89m.

Ferdinand is confident that Pogba will prove himself to be worth the money and revealed the France international's desire to become the best player in the world.

"Paul is a huge talent and someone with the personality to handle that price tag," Ferdinand told BBC Sport.

"He can do everything. He is still working out the best way to use all of his weapons but, once he does, he will be an absolute monster of a player. Paul told me before he left that he wanted to be the best player in the world.

"Paul's character means he will deal with being such a big investment - so that won't be a problem."

Pogba has been handed the number six shirt at United, which was previously worn by Ferdinand.
