United confirm Pogba transfer in world-record deal

Manchester United have confirmed that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has joined the club in a world-record deal.

After a long-running saga, the Premier League giants finally acknowledged on Sunday that the French international was closing in on a return to Old Trafford by announcing that he was scheduled to undergo a medical.

The transfer was expected to be sealed on Monday but during the early hours of Tuesday morning, United tweeted that their former player had signed a five-year contract to move back to the North-West.

The deal - reported to be £89m - breaks the previous world transfer record of £85m, which saw Gareth Bale make the switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid.

Pogba spent the early years of his professional career at United but after making just seven appearances, he left for Juventus where he developed into one of the best players in the world.

During a hugely impressive spell in Turin, Pogba won four league titles and two Coppa Italias as he netted 34 goals in 178 appearances.
