Rio Ferdinand: 'Gerard Pique best defender in the world'

Barcelona's Gerard Pique is the best defender in world football, according to former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand.

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that his former Manchester United teammate Gerard Pique is the best defender in world football right now.

The Spaniard made 13 appearances for the Red Devils before he returned to Barcelona for £5m in 2008.

Since then he has won all of the honours on offer in club and international football, including five La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and the World Cup.

When asked which defender impresses him most at present, Ferdinand opted for the 29-year-old.

Pique recently revealed that he would never sign for Manchester City because of the affection that he holds for United.ID:268238: cacheID:268238:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:1802:
