Fellaini: 'I am unfairly treated'

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini insists that he is harshly treated and has an unfair reputation as an aggressive player.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has hit out at what he believes to be an unfair portrayal of him as an aggressive player in English football.

The 30-year-old faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford and has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Besiktas and Galatsaray with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

In an interview with Belgian magazine Humo in his homeland, Fellaini accused his detractors of comparing him to "a murderer" and believes that he is a marked man as a result.

"They have labelled me an aggressive player, a murderer," said Fellaini, who has received just three red cards during his nine years in England. "Look, I'm fanatical. The team that wants it the hardest wins but there have been times when I came out as the villain.

"What should I do if they pull me by the hair? It sounds like a joke, but it really hurts.

"Last season I was suspended after the derby against [Manchester] City for a headbutt against [Sergio] Aguero. He stepped towards me and then dropped dead. But, no, I get the red.

"Players often try to provoke me but do you know how many yellow cards I collected last season? Four, in 45 matches. I've never destroyed someone's career."

Earlier this week Fellaini admitted that he is unsure whether to accept United's offer of a fresh contract or move on to pastures new.
