Evra: Giggs is a legend

Patrice Evra has described Manchester United teammate Ryan Giggs as a "legend" after the veteran winger scored a crucial goal in their Champions League tie at Benfica.

The Welshman fired in United's equaliser in the 42nd minute at the Estadio da Luz, with the game ending 1-1.

Giggs's strike means that the 37-year-old has scored in 22 consecutive seasons in his senior career at United, also scoring in 16 of the 17 Champions League campaigns he has featured in.

"We don't use that word legend for many players, but for him it's really easy to use that word," left-back Evra told Sky Sports. "For me, he's the best player I ever played with.

"He's 37 years old, but he looks like he's never won anything because he is training hard in every training session and every game.

"The goal he scored, for me, is just normal because it's Ryan Giggs. If it was another player we'd say well done, but it's Ryan Giggs, for me, it's just normal. He's a legend."

Giggs cut in from the right touchline and accelerated past Benfica defenders before firing an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
