Chris Smalling hopes for extended run

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has expressed his desire to remain a regular starter for the rest of the season.

The England international has featured from the beginning of United's last four matches, playing at both centre-back and right-back.

Having missed a large part of the previous campaign through injury, the 24-year-old has admitted that he is keen to make up for lost time.

"I think I've been able to have a good run and the injuries have not come in the way this season," he told MUTV. "I've felt I have been able to get a consistent run of games. If I can keep up my form and the manager keeps picking me, I hope I can continue right through to the end of the season."

Smalling joined United from Fulham in the summer of 2010.
