Jamie Carragher launches attack on Marouane Fellaini

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher 'hopes' never to see Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini play again in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed that he 'hopes' never to see Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini play again in the Premier League.

The player-turned-pundit's comments come after Fellaini was handed a three-match ban for swinging his elbow into the face of Leicester's Robert Huth during last weekend's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

The Belgian international's use of his elbows has been widely discussed over the last few seasons and Carragher does not want to see the 28-year-old operate in English football ever again.

"My personal hope is that we would never see him playing in the Premier League again," Carragher wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

"Three games is not a sentence that will prove a deterrent to Fellaini. He is a repeat offender and it has gone beyond the point now where people can attempt to defend him by saying he is a tall lad who is using his arms for leverage."

Fellaini will miss Man United's Premier League games against Norwich City, West Ham United and Bournemouth, but will be available for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace later this month.
