Ander Herrera: 'United lacked passion'

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has criticised his team for failing to match the "aggression and passion" of their opponents in their shock 2-1 loss at Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho's side were stunned as the Terriers claimed two goals in the space of five first-half minutes, thereafter only managing to halve the deficit through a Marcus Rashford strike before the final whistle.

The result saw United slip five points behind league leaders Manchester City and, talking to reporters afterwards, Herrera said that his teammates would now need to "analyse" why they were so lacking in fight.

"In the first 30 or 35 minutes, we didn't play good," he said. "They were more passionate than us, more aggressive. We cannot accept that.

"Congratulations to them, they deserved it, but we have to analyse where we lost today. We lost almost every ball. That cannot happen in the Premier League.

"Everyone has to analyse for himself what happened in the first half. When you play against a team that normally you are better than, you have to match their aggression and passion. We didn't do that. It cannot happen again.

"In the second half we were OK. We tried to move the ball. It was OK, but not enough for a point."

Meanwhile, Mourinho has described his side's performance as "bad" and claimed that they "deserved" their defeat.
