Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League Manchester derby with Manchester City.

Manchester United will aim to win their fifth Premier League game on the bounce when Manchester City make the journey to Old Trafford for Sunday's Manchester derby.

The Red Devils have not been in action in the top flight since defeating Arsenal 3-1 on September 4, losing to Real Sociedad and beating Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League since then.

Erik ten Hag's men have stormed to fifth in the table since recovering from their disastrous start to the new season, and victory on Sunday would see them cut the gap to the champions - who have played a game more - down to two points.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the derby with Man City, who sit second in the table with 17 points to their name.

Harry Maguire

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Harry Maguire endured a demoralising evening for England against Germany - being at fault for Die Mannschaft's first two goals - but it then emerged that he was suffering from a hamstring issue during the game. The extent of the damage is currently unclear, but the centre-back is reported to be facing a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Donny van de Beek

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Manchester City)

The out-of-favour Donny van de Beek will aim to recover from a knock in time to face the champions this weekend, although he is unlikely to earn many minutes either way.

Anthony Martial

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Manchester City)

Anthony Martial's Achilles problem is proving difficult to overcome, and he was left out of the squad to face Sheriff in the Europa League. The Frenchman has been training since, but Ten Hag still has "some doubts" over his involvement for the weekend.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Manchester City)

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was also absent from the trip to Moldova due to an unspecified issue, but he could be an option for Ten Hag this weekend.

Marcus Rashford

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Manchester City)

Marcus Rashford was snubbed for an England call-up in September after sustaining a muscular injury, but the 24-year-old has been back in training since and should be in contention to return this weekend.

Martin Dubravka

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Manchester City)

Martin Dubravka also missed out on Slovakia's recent fixtures after picking up a muscular injury, and it remains to be seen if the Newcastle United loanee can take up his regular spot on the bench here.

Brandon Williams

Status: Out
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: Unknown

Full-back Brandon Williams has been an occupant of the treatment room for the past few weeks due to an unspecified problem, and he is not expected to be available for the derby.

Mason Greenwood remains suspended by the club until further notice.
