Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record against Manchester City ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to lead the Manchester United line when the Red Devils welcome rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The 36-year-old has been in excellent form since returning to the club over the summer, finding the back of the net on nine occasions in 11 appearances.

Ronaldo was on the scoresheet in last weekend's 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League before registering twice in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Atalanta BC in the Champions League.

The Portugal international will now be hoping to inspire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to a famous victory in the Manchester derby this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ronaldo has fared against Man City in the past.

Ronaldo has faced Man City on 14 occasions during his professional career and has a record of nine wins, two draws and three defeats against the Citizens in all competitions.

The Portugal international has scored five times and registered three assists against the reigning English champions, with four of those goals coming during his first spell at Man United.

Interestingly, all three of his previous Champions League appearances against the Citizens came during his time at Real Madrid, and he scored against the Manchester club in the group stage of the 2012-13 competition, in addition to helping his side triumph in the semi-finals of the 2015-16 tournament.

Ronaldo has tackled Man City on 10 previous occasions in the Premier League and has a strong record against them, boasting six wins, one draw and three defeats, scoring three times and registering two assists.

The experienced attacker failed to score in his first five Premier League appearances against Man City before registering home and away against them during the 2006-07 campaign.

Ronaldo also found the back of the net on his final Premier League outing against Man United's bitter rivals, netting in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford during the 2008-09 campaign.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster also starred against Man City in the fifth round of the FA Cup during the 2003-04 campaign, scoring and registering an assist in a 4-2 success at Old Trafford.

Having lost just three of his 14 appearances against the Citizens in all competitions, Ronaldo should enter Saturday's contest full of confidence, as Man United look to move level on points with the Citizens in the Premier League table.
