Manchester United's Bastian Schweinsteiger out of Newcastle United trip

Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Manchester United will be without Bastian Schweinsteiger for tomorrow night's clash away at Newcastle United.

The Germany international picked up a knee injury during the 1-0 win over League One outfit Sheffield United in the FA Cup at the weekend.

While Van Gaal decided not to elaborate any further, he revealed that the complaint was serious enough to sideline Schweinsteiger for the trip to St James' Park.

"Bastian Schweinsteiger is injured, that we know," the United boss told MUTV.

Schweinsteiger, who joined the Red Devils from Bayern Munich in the summer, has made 17 Premier League appearances this season.
