Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo says that he is 'working hard' to return from the injury which kept him out of Sunday's Manchester derby.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he has returned to training after an injury kept him out of Sunday's Manchester derby.

The Portuguese superstar is said to have been suffering with a hip injury, the issue being significant enough to prevent him from facing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Ronaldo is said to have taken a trip back to his homeland over the weekend, rather than stay with the rest of the group for one of their biggest games of the season.

Nevertheless, the 37-year-old has now taken to social media to suggest that he may be back in contention for Saturday's Premier League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

On Instagram, where he posted a picture of himself in training, Ronaldo said: "Hard work towards a strong recovery. Eager to get back on the pitch and help the team."

If reports are to be believed, the frontman is keen to secure a transfer away from Old Trafford at the end of the season.
