Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Manchester United as they look to build on their miraculous comeback against PSG when they face Arsenal.

The big games keep on coming for Manchester United, who must quickly refocus on domestic matters after their miraculous comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

United overturned a position from which no side had ever recovered in Champions League history to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a dramatic 3-1 win on an unforgettable night in the French capital.

The victory was made all the more impressive by United's lengthy list of absentees, which included nine injuries and the suspended Paul Pogba, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to name five teenagers on his bench.

Having overcome such huge odds on that occasion, the Red Devils must again negotiate a heavily depleted squad when they face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday with just one point separating the two sides in the top-four race.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the crucial contest in North London.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S INJURY LIST

Eric Bailly

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: March 10

Bailly's first-half withdrawal against PSG was a blessing in disguise on the night, and the knock he suffered should not be enough to rule him out of this weekend's match.

Alexis Sanchez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: April 21

Solskjaer confirmed that Sanchez will miss around four to six weeks with the ligament damage he sustained against Southampton, ruling him out until mid-April.

Anthony Martial

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: March 10

Martial was not included in the travelling party to Paris, but he will be fit again to face Arsenal after Solskjaer reportedly delayed his return to ensure that he is back to full fitness.

Matteo Darmian

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unknown
Possible return date: March 10

Darmian is now back in training, but his fitness has been a concern for much of the campaign and, while he could be in contention to make the squad on Sunday, he is unlikely to be thrown straight into such an important game.

Phil Jones

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: March 10

Illness has ruled Jones out of the last three games, but the centre-back is expected to have recovered in time for Sunday and could come back into the side.

Nemanja Matic

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: March 10

The Arsenal match was earmarked as the earliest possible date for Matic to return from his muscle injury, and Solskjaer has confirmed that the midfielder could be in contention if he passes a late fitness test.

Antonio Valencia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: March 16

This weekend's match will come too soon for the club captain to return from his calf injury, although he could be back in time for the FA Cup quarter-final next weekend.

Ander Herrera

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: March 10

Herrera's hamstring injury which forced him off against Liverpool last month was not as serious as first feared and he will face a late fitness test ahead of the Arsenal game.

Juan Mata

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Herrera was swiftly followed off the pitch by Mata during that Liverpool game and the Spaniard is in a similar situation to his compatriot in that an exact date for his return has not yet been revealed.

Jesse Lingard

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

His hamstring injury may not have stopped him celebrating the late winner against PSG so wildly, but it is likely to keep him out of this game having also been a casualty of that Liverpool first half.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Pogba's suspension only applied to the Champions League, so he is available to return this weekend and United have no other players banned.
