Harry Kane's record vs. Manchester United

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's clash with Manchester United, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Harry Kane's record against the Red Devils.

Tottenham Hotspur will aim to take advantage of Manchester United's woes when they face off against the Red Devils in Saturday evening's Premier League contest.

The Lilywhites enter this game on the back of a 1-0 EFL Cup win over Burnley, but they went down by the same scoreline to West Ham United in their last top-flight battle.

Talisman Harry Kane has struggled to find his stride this season, but the England captain will be out for blood against United and the under-fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Kane's record against the Red Devils.

Tottenham actually managed to claim a rare win over Man United during Kane's debut against the Red Devils in the 2013-14 season, but he only came on for the final 15 minutes as Christian Eriksen and Emmanuel Adebayor came up with the goals at Old Trafford.

Kane's breakthrough season in the 2014-15 campaign saw him play 180 minutes of football against Man United, but he failed to register a goal or assist in either game as Spurs were held to a goalless draw at home before losing 3-0 away.

The 2015-16 season would follow a similar pattern in this fixture for Kane, who once again failed to fire against United despite playing 89 minutes of a 3-0 win at White Hart Lane, as Erik Lamela, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld instead produced the goods.

In total, Kane would go six games without managing to bag a goal or assist against United before finally getting off the mark in this fixture in May 2017 - scoring his side's second in a 2-1 win during their last-ever game at White Hart Lane.

After once again drawing a pair of blanks against United in 2017-18, Kane notched up a goal and assist in his side's 3-0 win at Old Trafford in August 2018 before another frustrating performance in a 1-0 home defeat later that season.

Following two more fruitless showings in 2019-20, Kane would enjoy his most prolific performance yet against United in last season's 6-1 Old Trafford thrashing, scoring twice and providing one assist at the Theatre of Dreams.

In total, Kane has faced Man United 15 times in all competitions and has ended up on the winning side on six occasions, but he has only managed a paltry four goals against the Red Devils in that time.

Furthermore, three of those strikes have come at Old Trafford, and the 28-year-old will be out to avoid a fifth home game in a row without a goal or assist against United on Saturday, having only registered one goal in seven such matches so far.
